Harishchandragad is in the Kalsubai mountain range, Ahmednagar district, in the Western ghats of Maharashtra. Historically, the fort is related to Malshej Ghat, which has also played a pivotal role in guarding and controlling the surrounding region. This fort was built in the 6th century and during the reign of the Kalachuri dynasty. This fort is historic for all city dwellers. The fort hosts various caves of the 11th century, temples that hold idols of Lord Shiva and Vishnu. In the later period, it came under Moghul control, from whom Marathas captured it. There is a huge rock above the Shiva Linga, and four pillars around it support the cave in the pool of water. The legends say these four pillars represent the four Yugas of Satya, Treta, Dwarapura, and Kali. It is believed that a pillar breaks off on its own at the end of each Yuga.

• Harishchandreshwar temple is a glorious example of the fine art of carving sculptures out of stones that prevailed in ancient India. This temple has been carved out of a single huge rock.
• Kedareshwar cave is located towards the right side of the Harishchandra temple. It has a big Shiva Linga surrounded by water.

• 11.00 pm Reporting at Swargate & departure to base village.
• 11.10 pm Start journey towards base village (pickup points will be: swargate, dekkan, s. nagar, nashik phata, chakan).

• 04.30 am Reach at base village Pachnai and freshen up and have breakfast.
• 06.00 am A short introduction & start trek to Harishchandragad.
• 08.30 am Reach Harishchandragad. Visit Harichandreshwar temple & caves.
• 09.30 pm Start trek to Kokankada.
• 10.00 pm Reach Kokankada, spent 30 min. at Kokankada.
• 10.30 pm Start the return trek to base village.
• 01.30 pm Reach at base village. Freshen up and lunch.
• 02.30 pn Start the return journey to Pune. Evening tea on the way.
• 08.00 pm Reach Pune via same route. (approx.).

• Trekking is specialist activity. Trekking shoes are must.
• A haversack or backpack to put in all the things to be carried so that one has one’s hands free while trekking.
• Water (at least 2 Liters).
• Please wear full-sleeves t-shirts and long pants.

• Trek leader’s decision will be final and binding. Organizers reserve all the right to change/deviate/cancel the plan without prior notice.
• In case, due to some unavoidable conditions (like natural disaster, change in government or local authorities policy etc.) the event gets cancelled before/on the event date or during trek, Trek fees will be refunded except nominal expenses which are already spent till that point.
