Old Malshej Ghat Kalu Waterfall Trek

Overview

Malshej Ghat is a beautiful place all year round. In the past, people had to walk up and down the hill because there were no roads. This ancient route has carvings of Lord Ganesha, water storage areas, and occasional stone steps. The majority of the path is covered by a lush green canopy.

This route also has some historical significance from a war with the Portuguese. At the end of this path, there is another trail that runs alongside the rushing Kalu river, which becomes even more powerful during the rainy season. We walk as close as we can to the waterfall, but usually only manage to get within 1.5 kilometers of the base due to the strong river flow, which makes it difficult to cross. Apart from the Kalu Waterfall, there is also another stunning waterfall hidden in a gorge to the right.
